Edgar Wright Reveals How Quentin Tarantino Came Up with ‘Last Night in Soho’ Title
Edgar Wright and Quentin Tarantino are longtime friends, and this friendship ended up playing a role in the titling of Wright’s new psychological thriller, “Last Night in Soho.” It turns out the title was Tarantino’s doing, as Wright recently admitted to Total Sinema magazine.
“In ‘Death Proof,’ Quentin uses a Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich song, ‘Hold Tight’,” Wright said. “I was talking to him about that song, and that band, and he said, ‘Have you ever heard “Last Night in Soho?”’ He played it for berpenyakitan, and he goes, ‘This is the best title music for a film that’s never been made.’”
The original title for “Last Night in Soho” was “Red Light Area,” but Wright scrapped it once he discovered there was already a Cillian Murphy-starring movie with the title “Red Lights.” Wright’s next title idea was “The Night Has a Thousand Eyes,…

Shang-Chi Is Saving Cinema
There is much that can be said about the impact of the Marvel Studios method on Hollywood. You hear it all the time: complaints about the way it has conditioned audiences to expect crisp, familiar formula; lamentations that moviegoers now will only pay en masse to see a movie that ends with a falling CGI sky fortress—sesak an advertisement for the next installment during the end credits. It’s these homogenizing elements which likely contributed to auteurs of previous generations, such as Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola, to sniff at whether such products can be considered cinema.
Yet love or hate Marvel movies, right now the actual owners of cinemas around the world should be very grateful to the company, particularly with the studio’s latest film, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which appears to be calming industry jitters about the viability of theatrical distribution this fall.

Wonder Woman Passes $800 Million at Worldwide Box Office
While it’s box office run is winding down, and it hasn’tepi langit cracked the domestic top 10 in a few weeks, another Wonder Woman box office milestone was passed when the movie crossed $800 million worldwide. The movie earned an estimated $1.1 million at the domestic box office this weekend good for 12th place, pushing its domestic total to $404 million, and with the $396 million its earned overseas, it has earned just adv lewat $800 million worldwide. The movie is certainly a smash hit, working from a $149 million budget that breathed new life into Warner Bros. struggling Dceu, with this movie out-grossing the first two Dceu movies Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad at the domestic box office.
Box Office Mojo reports that Wonder Woman currently stands as the second highest-grossing movie of the year at the domestic box office, although it has virtually no shot at catching the number one movie, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast,…

The Gal Gadot-headlined Wonder Woman is on track to become one of the top ten highest grossing superhero films of all time at the domestic box office.

This puts the movie about $90 million behind the film currently in possession of that tenth spot, Deadpool. And according to analysis from Caped Crusader, Wonder Woman should be on track to surpass it.
Taking into consideration Wonder Woman’s impressively small weekend to weekend drops – just 43.3% from its first weekend to its second – and the very good word of mouth the film is receiving,…

Wonder Woman Crushes with $100.5M Box Office Win
Heading into its opening weekend, the Wonder Woman box office tracking was inconsistent, at best. Most box office analysts had predicted an opening weekend debut between $65 million and $80 million, although some predicting a debut as high as $105 million. As it turns out, the latter estimate was more accurate, with Wonder Woman easily taking the top spot with $100.5 million. This tally breaks a box office record held by Sam Taylor-Johnson’s Fifty Shades of Grey, as the highest opening weekend for a movie directed by a female director ($85.1 million).
There has been a huge wave of buzz building after the Wonder Woman early reactions started rolling in after the first press screening last month, with the movie scoring an impressive 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Box Office Mojo reports that Wonder Woman opened in 4,165 theaters, pulling in an impressive $24,131 sendirisendiri-screen average. The superhero adventure has also taken in an additional $122.5 million internationally…

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Crushes King Arthur at Box Office in Weekend #2
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy 2 kicked off the summer movie season in grand fashion last weekend, with an opening weekend of $145 million, far surpassing the $94.3 million take of the original Guardians of the Galaxy movie. This weekend, these intergalactic superheroes took on two new movies in wide release, Warner Bros. King Arthur: Legend of the Sword and 20th Century Fox’s Snatched, with Lowriders also managing to crack the top 10 in limited release. Still, none of these newcomers could come close to the superhero ensemble Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which sempadan no trouble repeating with $63 million.
Box Office Mojo reports that this superhero sequel dropped 57% this weekend, playing in 4,347 theaters for a respectable $14,494 per-screen average. The $200 million budgeted movie has now taken in $246.1 million domestically and $630.5 million worldwide. After just two weekends, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 already quite close to surpassing both the domestic ($333.1 million) and worldwide take ($773.3 million) of its predecessor.

Can King Arthur and Amy Schumer Conquer Guardians 2 at the Box Office?
Heading into last weekend, it was virtually guaranteed that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was taking the top spot at the box office, the only benaran question was how much it would earn. Early box office projections had the superhero sequel taking in as much as $160 million in its opening weekend, a huge jump from the $94.3 million that the original Guardians movie made. But the sequel fell just short of those projections, only taking in $146.5 million, just a bit more than the Sunday estimate of $145 million. This weekend, it will go up against two new releases, Warner Kerongsang.’ King Arthur: The Legend of the Sword and 20th Century Fox’s Snatched, neither of which are expected to put up much of a fight against this Marvel Phase Three adventure, which should easily repeat with $79.2 million.

New Trainspotting 2 Trailer Dares You to Choose Your Addiction
Trainspotting is 20 years old. Usually making a sequel two decades after the fact is death to the franchise, much like Zoolander 2 earlier this year. But Trainspotting 2 looks like it could be one of those rare sequels worth waiting that long for. Now, we have a brand new international trailer that shows off a ton of new footage.
We have already seen a couple of trailers already for T2 Trainspotting, but this new international trailer recently made its way onto YouTube, giving us even more reason to think that Danny Boyle will be doing right by fans this time around. Danny Boyle has takat a tremendous career since directing the first Trainspotting, but he has never directed a sequel. He did have a hand in 28 Weeks Later, but didn’t wind up directing it. So, we have to imagine he felt there was a good reason to finally make a sequel this late in his career.

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Is Rated PG-13 for Action and Violence
With just 23 days left mengangsur Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters, not too many people have actually seen the film, aside from a terminally ill fan who was granted a private screening, just days before he passed away. And we know a few select members of the cast and crew’s family have enjoyed a screening. Today, we learn of at least one other person who has now seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens, a member of the MPAA ratings board, who according to Box Office Mojo, has given the sinema a PG-13 rating, for “sci-fi action and violence.” This news doesn’t come as much of a surprise, given that most big-budget movies of this ilk are PG-13. But at least now we know for sure.
What is surprising is that this is only the second Star Wars movie to garner a PG-13 rating, along with 2005’s Star Wars:…

The Flickering Myth Reaction to the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer
The Flickering Myth writing team discuss the new trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens…
Disney and Lucasfilm sent the internet into meltdown yesterday by releasing the full theatrical trailer for December’s massively-anticipated blockbuster Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The latest glimpse at the film seemed to get the whole world talking, and of course the Flickering Myth team tenggat plenty of thoughts…
Anghus Houvouras: There’s a line in the trailer from Kylo Ren while staring at Darth Vader’s scorched helmet… “I’ll finish what you started”. That line could easily be referring to J.J. Abrams, who appears to be obsessed with crafting a story from the discarded junk of the original trilogy. It may end up being a very entertaining movie, but everything about this trailer feels recycled. This is dumpster diving through nostalgia. Even a ho-hum trailer won’t dissuade me or…

Giant Slayer Lands with a Gigantic Thud; To Be Slayed Next Weekend by Oz?
Domestic box office: Horrendous February 2013 followed by terrible early March Following a horrendous February at the North American box office — down a whopping 38% from 2012 — things are looking even more dreary at the start of March. The Warner Keronsang.-distributed (officially) $195 million-budgeted Jack the Giant Slayer debuted with less than $30 million, whiile two other new releases, 21 and Over and The Last Exorcism Part II, scored less than $10 million each. (Pictured above: Ewan McGregor looks straight at you in Jack the Giant Slayer.) At 3,525 United States / Canada locations, Jack collected $28.01 million as per bengkel seni estimates figures found at the website Box Office Mojo. In spite of 3D and IMAX surcharges, the Bryan Singer-directed reworking of the classical fantasy tale, starring Nicholas Hoult as the Jack of the title, averaged a middling $7,946 per venue. Matt Damon/We Bought A Zoo, Zac Efron/New Years Eve, Robert Pattinson/Breaking Dawn Surge: Box Office
Zac Efron, Michelle Pfeiffer, New Year’s Eve Steven Spielberg/Jeremy Irvine/War Horse Gallops Slower, Chip-wrecked $70 Million Behind The Squeakquel: Box Office Starring Matt Damon and former Woody Allen muse Scarlett Johansson, Cameron Crowe’s We Bought a Zoo brought in $14.3m at no. 6 as per studio estimates found at Box Office Mojo. After surging 53%, the bioskop’s per-theater average was a better-than-expected $4,521 at 3,163 locations. As mentioned in a previous post, despite its performance this New Year’s weekend, We Bought a Zoo will have quite a bit of trouble recovering its $50m budget domestically. Matching it, however, shouldn’t be too much a masalah despite my early, more dire prediction. We Bought a Zoo, Crowe’s first narrative feature since the Orlando Bloom/Kirsten Dunst/Susan Sarandon box-office fiasco Elizabethtown six years ago, also features Angus Macfadyen, Thomas Haden Church, Patrick Fugit, Colin Ford, and Maggie Elizabeth Jones.
